MICHAEL'S GIG

I heard about his gig from deshun, he was the one that invited me first.
So i asked my bro why he never invite me.

Anyway, to cut the long-drama-about nothing-story short.
I went for his gig at outram park.

I rushed back home to dump my laptop and draw some eyeliner.
We then ate at Qi Ji. Their Nasi Lemak rocks!

We then MRT-ed to the place and we met up with mike's band mates and some of his friends.
I have to admit it was awkward.
They were smoking and drinking… Of course i had just taken my panadol as i am sick.
I was sweating profusely. Thank heavens I went home and stocked up on my tissues.

After the introductions, we head up to the jamming studio. It's this tiny place. But it was fully equipped with drum set, amps the whole works.
Rather impressive.

We settle down and i drink this guys cider. I feel bad and thirsty so i head to 7 11 with mike.
I buy his cider, lime tequila and whisky.
Yeah i know, that sounds hard core right… I shared don't worry.

I loved the tequila. Its only 7%. But i still turned pink.

Shanice and i went crazy for a moment or two. We were laughing and joking until she pushed me off the couch.
How epic. I seriously got a slight bit tipsy.

Moving on to less embarrassing moments. The gig started 1 hour late, as expected. The music was awesome! The lead singer not so.
Not to put you down dude, but you kind of ruined RHCP.
Its not like i listen to those Red Hot Chili Peppers, but after how you crooned those songs i doubt i would want more.
If only to hear the original so that i can erase those dreadful melodies you sang.

They played for about 30 mins, And then it was all over too soon.
I bobbed my head and whooped and hollered and danced in my seat with Shan.
I waved my hands in the air like i just didn't care and held up an imaginary lighter.
I'm just glad i never have to see those exact same people ever again.

Mike was awesome! I'm so proud to call him my bro! He looked so cute slapping the bass, he headbanged and jumped and bobbed his head.
He had the most energy out of the other band members.

There was also this cocky cute dude- jon. He was the backup vocalist and lead guitar.
Ok, so he was cute.
Lets just leave it at that.
Mike was about to tell him, and i was so mortified. All this happened over SMS mind you. I told him i was going to beat him up if he did…

I cabbed home with Shanice. Failed attempt to take pics with the iPhone.
Watched a bit of the videos.
You can check youtube in like a weeks time, i think that's how long it will take to upload everything.

Awesomest Gig Ever!

Pretty In Pink

I realized today how much I really like the fashion of the 80's.

Not only did the 80's bring us romantic yet cheesy music, it bestowed upon us the films in which it was ok to spew words like fuck and dick-wad and still be rated PG.

Pretty in pink stars Molly Ringwald and Jon Cryer, you know that man from two and a half men.

The gist of this 96 minute show is that there's this poor and pretty girl.
Thats all you need to know about her.

Then there's this guy who is infatuated with her. He dotes on her and she is so daft to see what a good thing she has in front of her.

Then we have to have a character who is the very opposite. He is the rich- somewhat good looking guy.

They girl and rich guy go out twice and they fall in love. Gee... how nice.

One of my favorite scenes is when Ducky (Jon Cryer) lip synchs and dances his little tushie off just for Andie (Molly Ringwald)
My heart just about melted into my soup that i was eating.

He looked so adorable... with his round sunglasses and perfectly coiffed curly hair.

At the end they go to the prom. Then nothing much happens.
The reason why i'm even blogging about this is to let people know about the injustice of a show like this.

How in the world could you create such cute characters and then not deliver.
Andie is meant to be with Ducky!

Another scene that was epic is when Dickie (tee hee) tells Andie's dad that he wants to marry her... not today. Haha.. Awwww.
I would give this show 2/5 stars.

Watch it for Ducky!

Andie goes off with the dick-wad finally, you just know that he's going to cheat on her eventually.
Andie is supposed to be with Ducky!
Thats all i have to say.

Friends in Class

Kelly
One photo for when she had wild hair... and two with pixie hair!
I love Kelly very much.
Most of our conversations are about annoying each other, but i tell her almost everything.
Class would be so boring without her!
She makes me laugh and she's really very innocent and sweet.
We have the same GPA!
I hope we are still friends after we graduate.

Try!
One of my closest guy friends in class.
We are constantly bitching about people we don't like in class. He's my gossip buddy.
I think i started talking more to him towards the later part of the year.
I remember having a long chat with him in the MRT at paya lebar station.
He is such a smart ass.
I'm so jealous. All our teachers love him. Class rep and overall funny guy!
Both of us watch misfits!
We love speaking in a wonky accent. Its our british/irish/chav accent.
I fookin luv yeaarrr! Hahahaha

Shanice
Eurasian girl... Haha. She so smart and full of life.
Dating Thai boy below. Just started to get to know her better!
She speaks her mind and is such a diva! No one gets crap from her... does that make any sense.. gives her crap... anyway...

Michael
He keeps asking me how do i spell his name, its not like your name is that difficult to spell mike.
People mix up the a and e... i think he gets upset by that.
He's the class clown and always speaks his mind! Very friendly guy.
Second closest guy whom i talk to in class.
Guitar rocker thinks he's so cool.
He's my bro and somehow i'm his bro too.

:)
i love my friends!
i hope they love me too!

Communication Skills For Media Makers

In my diploma course i have to take this module on communication skills.
Basically we learn about pitching a concept, about budgeting a TV production and all that jazz.

I really like my teachers style of teaching and she gives out the most detailed and helpful CA briefs.

For my second continual assessment (CA) we had to pitch and original TV show to a panel of Mediacorp executives. My heart was beating like mad at the beginning.
I took a deep breath and started...

Kelly told me after that i sounded professional which is points for me. YAY:D
However, Try said that it was badly presented and i have to agree.
We did not practice it perfectly!
For pete's sake we were working on the powerpoint on the day itself.
I hate doing things last minute.

The changing of speakers was messed up. I said i will pass the time on to shanice when it should have been michael.
The judges did say that they were not criticizing out concept rather the terms we used.

Want to hear our original idea?

Its a reality show called Border Rehab.
We take delinquent youths out of their comfort zone and put them in countries like Africa and India.
They are supposed to carry out a project and live in the community for one week.
Through the participants entertaining experiences we will see if he can stand one whole week,
without electricity, no phones or TV.
The aim is to see an internal change in the participant.

Will you watch my show?
Leave me a comment below.

Guam

I will be going to Guam in march.
Its a mission trip with Campus Crusade.
For three weeks, with no parents or school.

Guam is an island part of US. Its smaller than Singapore. Its next to Philippines.
As a group we will be starting up a campus ministry in the University of Guam.
We also will be doing other projects with the people there.

I hear Guam has pretty beaches. Its a tourist spot.
I'm excited to spend my holidays overseas.
I pray that God will be able to use me to touch the lives of the people there.

I also need $2500 to go there. So i will need to raise the money in 4 weeks.
If you want to help me out, please drop me an email at suyintha@gmail.com
Any contribution is appreciated, be it in prayer or thoughts. $10 would help :D

Will update more as i get more information about the trip.
I should make a packing list.
Will definitely bring my mac and canon cam.

Blogging in Guam is a must. I hope there is internet. Cross my fingers.

Adventures with Dinah

I made a new friend today!
That has to be one of my top 50 favorite things ever... making a new friend :D

So Dinah is from SP. Both of us are in Campus Crusade... Before today i would see her sometimes during meetings and around school, but we won't talk as much.
The funny thing is that we both wanted to go to Aussie for the mission trip and put taiwan as our 2nd option...yet somehow we are now going to Guam.

Guam say what?
Most of you may not know where that is... i will save the explanation for the next post.

So back to the topic... let me describe her.
She has a punk look. And funky hair. Black eyeliner and a beanie. Two mouth piercings...technically its like a chin piercing... haha.. close to the mouth lah.
She is very petite.

So we started talking when we went for the boot camp. And somehow we bonded over complaining about this annoying girl in our group.
Thats not the adventurous part.
While walking to dinner we almost got run over, i kid you not.
We were crossing quite a wide road and i walked out even though there were cars far off further away from us... how was i supposed to know that the cars would start to slow down, we end up stranded on the road, with a truck rumbling towards us. Of course i scream like a girl.
Thats crazy thing that happened numero uno.

We ate dinner at Macs and then as we were walking back to the MRT i saw this flattened reptile like rotting creature on the road... it had its guts and head and bones all smashed up.
That is one thing that i can never unsee!
I'm scarred for life.
It was freaking disgusting.

Then we reach the overhead bridge and Dinah spots this red headed ang moh.
She says so shuang?? haha xuang??
anyway.. cute...
just as she says it,
the cute guy turns around and stares at us.

She giggles and ditches me by running up the stairs.
So i'm in heels and carrying her sleeping bag.
I run up the stairs, clomping in my heels and giggle loudly like a pig.
All the while the red head stares at us rather fascinated by these two girls.

We cross the road and we look over only to find that he is still looking at us.
What an adventure filled day.

Can i borrow $1?Can i borrow $1?Can i borrow $1?

Dinah.. thank you for being my friend!
Can we please bunk together in Guam??

Favorite Artist of January 2011

So i pretty much listen to anything that makes the top 40 list.
As long if there is a catchy beat and a melody i can hum to.

I started listening to Rihanna when she had long hair, i remember her first single was SOS.
She has soon evolved from her brown luscious locks to the short curly red do.

I like the songs-
Only Girl
Love the way you lie
What's my name
and
Complicated.

in fact my tumblr name is after only girl...
http://teenagedreamworld.tumblr.com/

Love Rihanna! Her songs perk me up big time.

Newtons Cradle

Does anyone know what a Newtons Cradle is?

Let me give you a hint...
Its these silver balls suspended from string.
I won't be able to describe it properly so here an image...

I was watching an episode of Skins the other day and i saw the Newtons Cradle.
I did not know that it was called that before, i did not have the need to talk about a Newtons Cradle before so knowing what it was called is of no use...

Anyway i googled sliver balls on a string and out came the wikipedia page.

The only reason why i'm making such a big deal about it is that i used to play with one when i would go to my aunties house.
My mum's eldest sister, her husband has one.

I remember playing with it, it makes this click click sound when the balls hit one another. One time i even got the strings entangled. Got a scolding from my dad on that.
And it was my uncle that helped to straighten the strings out.

What makes me sad is that he is dead now. He died of cancer about a year back.
Its so funny how one memory of something reminds you so much of that person.

I can really feel for my aunt, even though i'm not too close to her, its just sad that her husband is no longer there.

I really can't stand any of my immediate family dying. Its just too depressing.

When i feel down

I go and get my nails done.

I realised the joys of getting a manicure about two years ago.
Before that i would go with my aunt once or twice a year, but now that she's overseas I took it upon myself to give my nails a treat every now and then.

But then i found out that i always go for a manicure when i'm angry or stressed or frustrated at something or someone.

My my nails are a lovely shade of pink...
its OPI but i forgot the name...

Open House.

Its really unbelievable that it has been a year since i went for Singapore Polytechnic's Open House.

An open house is for potential students and their parents to come and visit the school. Its for them to find out more about the different courses offered in the polytechnic.

I remember when i visited the open house.

I walked around the school and talked to Shah about Media and Communication.

And it was that fateful day that my course director- Miss Gamar, met my parents and gave them her name card.
My dad encouraged me to go for the course, he read the course modules and said that it was good.

I then met up with Miss Gamar for course counseling.

I made my decision to change from Ngee Ann Poly Mass Comm. to SP DTVM.
I then began to prepare for interviews.
I was able to enter to this school through JPSE which is a special admissions exercise.

I still can recall the interview questions they asked me.

I'm really grateful that i am able to study here.

Now a year later i will be at the open house, helping to promote my course.
I'm really excited!

I forgot what i wanted to blog about

so i guess this will be one of those random posts with everything and anything in it.

I watched The Social Network!
Man! Its movies like this that make me wish i was smarter!

Ok...exclamation overload.

Justin Timberlake is cute.

I got a very high B on one of my projects for last term. I'm sorta happy with that.
Oh yeah... and i went swimming with my cousins on the first day of the year... have i mentioned that before, i can't remember.

I went to work yesterday and made a new friend.

The first day of school was fun.
Really very slack.

Played truth or dare during my last lesson as it was a consultation week for a project.
It was so funny! I was laughing until i had to cough!
My friends are actually really sporting and fun to be around.

I went to watch Meet the Parents: Little Fockers after school today.

Yeah that's about it. You are pretty much up to date with whats going on in my life now.

Part 2

So basically to continue from where i left off...
we have to surrender our thoughts and actions.

We are offer our bodies as a living sacrifice.
The ears and eyes are gateways into our heart, mind and soul.
We have to guard these gateways into out heart, mind and soul.

Sin does not begin with our actions, its when our heart desires that makes us act on it.

One thing that the pastor said that was very profound was that- faith is despite the fact that it may not be logical sometimes.

Thus ends the first message of the new year.

First Sunday Of the Year

It is the very first sunday of 2011.
I woke up to go to church rather reluctantly...
and i'm really glad that I went.

The message was very timely for what i'm going through in my life now.
I love how God works in ways that you feel like you are connected to him and he's speaking to you directly.
Its when the pastor says something and you're like Woah! That is exactly what i'm going through and feeling now.

The verses in the bible that the message was about is from Romans.

Romans 12:1-2
(the message version)
So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

I have memorised these verses ever since primary school, but its all the much clearer with this interpretation.

And
Romans 6:1-14

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

The pastor began by saying that sin has no control over us and that it is by grace that we have been saved. As we are under grace we have been saved.
What does this mean?

When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, it was by his grace that he decided to sacrifice his life. He died for our sins. Thus it is also through his death that sin died along with him. Sin cannot control us and does not have a hold on us

We are forgiven from our sin as we are under his grace. But then we can't take grace lightly and abuse it.
A child that does not love his father is one that continually sins against him.

In 2 Cor 5:17 it says that we are new creations in Christ and that the old is gone and the new has come.
If you are in your old nature you are slaves to sin, we are made as new creations when we believe in Jesus Christ

We can choose not to sin by rejecting it.
We all have the ability to chose what is righteous not evil.
However, we will be faced with the same temptation, a little voice in us saying that we might as well give up and sin since we are bound to mess up eventually. But that is a lie.
We can chose to exercise self control and Christ provides us with the strength to resist the temptation to say a bad word or to act out on out anger.

Instead we should surrender out rights and offer out bodies to Christ as a spiritual act of worship.
We can offer our mouth, eyes, ears, heart, mind, hands and feet.

I shall save it for another post.
A part two to the message.

The Tourist!

If you like a good spy-action movie this is a class act of one.

It does not hurt that they cast two of Hollywoods top actors to play the leading roles.
Put Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie together and it's pure magic. I wonder why they have not worked together previously?

So the story starts off with Elise who is being watched by this secret service guys. Its not too secret as they make themselves rather obvious.

She gets a letter from alexander pierce. Apparently he is a wanted man. He stole billions of dollars from this person...

He wants her to get on a train and choose a guy of same built and height as him.
In comes Depp, the script was fantastic. The banter between them on the train was really hilarious.

I should not spoil the movie for those who have yet to watch it.
I just told you about the first 20 minutes of the show.

There is a boat chase, and a shooting scene.
Of course what spy-action movie is complete without a sexy dance scene.

Bring along your popcorn and drinks and don't think about leaving to go to the toilet! You would regret missing out of any part of the movie.
