Dear John
Another classic by Nicholas Sparks
Directed by Lasse Hallstrom
Disclaimer: There will be letter writing ( just like in 'Nights in Rodanthe')
Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried fill up the screen as leading love interests- the poster says it all.
The movie starts off with the usual boy meets girl, boy clumsily falls in love, fast with girl, then...
This is not the typical romantic movie, there's a twist. Just to clue you in a little, what sort of romantic movie would it be without the separation element.
Love seems all the much better when you have to wait for it, being apart for an entire year is tough... not that i would know.
It's this sort of movie that makes me question, is love really out there?
It seems too good to be true that after spending two weeks with this random dude- John,
that one could really love someone for the next 8 years; and they were apart might i add.
John is enlisted with the army. The initial part is set during the 9'11 period.
The part of the movie i enjoyed was the beginning, and when Amanda Seyfried sings 'Little house',
she strums her guitar and i'm mesmerized. Who knew she had such a haunting yet angelic voice? She is not a bad looker either. Her eyes were translucent and green and her hair all blond and curly. I stare at this lady and can't help but feel jealous of her looks and rad acting and singing skills.
In terms of romantic love, love that waits for you. Does it happen in this day?
Well what can i take away from this movie...
It ended abruptly, just to let you know. i had that feeling like ' huh, it ended already?'
I expected more.
I rate this maybe er...3 out of 5 stars.
If you're thinking it will be good as The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, then uh... still go and watch it.
